Advanced School Counseling: Addictions, Crisis & Systems Advocacy

Course Description

This is an advanced course in school counseling designed for students, preparing to specialize as school counselors, to develop the knowledge and skills to organize and administer a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program in a P-12 setting. This course further examines contemporary issues within education, legal and ethical policies in school counseling, cultural competence critical for the diverse/global society, substance abuse prevention and advocacy in the schools, and proactive programming to meet the issues of children and adolescents.
