Automotive Driveline Dynamics

Course Description

Introduction to powertrain and driveline systems dynamics with emphasis on vehicle drive-quality and design of vibration control mechanisms that enhance fundamental drive characteristics in conventional and electrified vehicles. Subjective and objective characteristics are considered related to low-frequency vehicle acceleration performance, including vehicle jerk, surge and powertrain modes, and torsional vibration.This course is cross listed with a undergraduate course. Credit cannot be received for both ME 5230 and ME 4230.Prerequisite (s): Undergraduate courses in dynamics, vibrations, and controls (or equivalent).
