Course Description
Fundamental concepts of atomic and nuclear physics; interaction of radiation with matter and shielding; neutron diffusion and moderation; neutron poisons and control rod design; reactor licensing, safety and the environment; applications in power generation and medicine; nuclear power and reactor design, including future application to data centers and nuclear waste harvesting for energy. Cross-listed with ME 4580 Credit cannot be received for both ME 5580 and ME 4580.
