Lubrication, Friction and Wear
Course Description
Study of fundamental wear mechanisms including: adhesive, abrasive, corrosive and surface fatigue. Boundary and hydrodynamic lubrication. Friction theories. Surface topography characterization. Applications: journal and ball bearings, gears and engine components. This course is cross listed with an undergraduate course. Credit cannot be received for both ME 5710 and ME 4630.Offered spring, fall.
