Mechanics of Metal Forming
Course Description
Study of mechanics, metallurgy and basic analytical and numerical methods needed to understand the analysis of metal forming processes. Topics include: introduction to plasticity, yield criteria, work hardening and plastic anisotropy; ideal work method, slab and upper-bound analyses; formability, springback and forming limit diagrams. Overview of using commercial finite element packages to simulate bulk and sheet metal forming. Formerly ME 578. Offered fall.
