Fundamentals of various machining processes including turning, milling, drilling and grinding. Fixturing and geometric errors produced by machine tools. Friction and wear of cutting tools. Influence of cutting fluids, tool design and tool material on cutting temperatures, work piece surface roughness and tool wear. Description of alternative machines and smart machine tools.
