Course Title
Physical Therapy Approaches to Medical-Surgical Care
Course Description
This course prepares students to assess and treat patients with medical-surgical diagnoses in hospital and inpatient settings across the continuum of care. Emphasis is placed on post-operative management, wound and integumentary care, dynamic clinical decision making, patient safety procedures, discharge planning, coordination of care considerations, and critical care. Students will develop clinical reasoning and intervention skills to address impairments such as pain, weakness, and deconditioning while ensuring patient safety and monitoring vital signs. Through case-based learning and simulations, students will learn to create individualized treatment plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize functional outcomes.Accepted in the Doctor of Physical Therapy ProgramPT 7600, PT 7652, PT 7653, PT 7550
