Fasteners and Bolted Joints

Course Description

Analysis, design, and reliability of bolted joint systems under static and dynamic loads. Topics include torque-tension-turn formulation, process control, service and environmental loads, fatigue, elastic interaction, vibration loosening, creep relaxation, and corrosion. With laboratory experiments.This course is cross listed with an undergraduate course. Credit cannot be received for both ME 5730 and ME 4730. Generally offered fall.Prerequisite(s):  ME 4300 or equivalent.
