Introduction to Data Science

Course Description

This course will survey the foundational topics in data science by reviewing the steps of completing data science projects, and also introducing data analytics tools and modeling techniques used for solving business management and decision-making problems. The main focus of this course will be on data science knowledge discovery process, data mining, predictive modeling, data visualization, classification, clustering, and decision support. By the end of this course, students should be able to prepare data for mining, set up classification and clustering data mining tools, and understand the advantages and pitfalls of different modeling techniques. Prerequisite(s) QMM 5100 or have completed a course in statistics.
